Den meetings are twice a month, evenings from 6–7pm, about an hour. Exact day/time varies by den so leaders can work around sports schedules.
Pack meetings are usually on weekends. They occur monthly and typically last 2-3 hours. Once per year we host the Klondike camp which includes an overnight in a cabin and outdoor winter activities which last half a day. Two pack family campouts a year (fall and spring) — optional but encouraged.
That’s fine – while attendance is highly encouraged, we understand your scout may not always be able to attend every den meeting. When you have to miss den meetings for other commitments, as a parent you can work with your scout at home to make up missed activities and approve requirements yourself. Resources are available online or in your scout’s handbook for activity requirements.
BSA membership is $140/year, paid directly to BSA. A Class B t-shirt is provided when your scout joins, so no uniform cost up front. A Class A uniform shirt ($32.99) isn't needed right away.

Join Pack 101 by applying at www.beascout.org. While you’re waiting for your application to be processed, please join us at Pack events. If you’re unsure about joining and want to come try out an activity, let us know. (Pack 101 displays as 0101 on beascout.org)

When joining mid-year parents and new scouts have the option of catching up on rank requirements or just completing the remaining adventures along with their den. Note: if you choose not to complete all rank level requirements your scout will not earn their rank patch at graduation in May.
Parents always have the option to work with their scout at home to complete missed adventure requirements. Let your den leader know what you plan to do and they will work with you to find the appropriate resources in your handbook or online.
For Kindergarten and First Grade scouts, parent involvement is a requirement. This helps you and your scout acclimate and get to know other scouts and parents.
The Pack committee and den leadership is all made up of volunteer parents. They are always looking for help with jobs large and small. Any level of volunteering will help your scout make the most of their scouting adventure.
There is no background check required to simply lend a hand at a meeting or event. Den Leaders and Committee members are required to have background checks and training to perform their duties.
It is important to know that Scouting America has a religious element as a part of the program as stated in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. However, Scouting America is absolutely nonsectarian (not affiliated with or restricted to a particular faith or religious group) in its attitude toward a member’s religion or faith. Scouting America policy is that the home and organization or group with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life.
Yes. We camp 2–3 times a year; the rest of the program covers a lot of other ground (crafts, community service, skill-building, etc.).
Yes, siblings are welcome at pack events. For some council-run special events, siblings may need to pay an additional fee to attend.
